KATHMANDU, APRIL 23The Uttarakhand state government of India is spearheading efforts to establish a direct flight connection between Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal, and Dehradun, the capital of Uttarakhand. The proposed route will link Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun with Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu, according to a report by The Times of India."In a progressive stride towards international connectivity and tourism, the government of Uttarakhand has extended an invitation for proposals to establish flight operations between Kathmandu and Dehradun.

By connecting the capital cities of Nepal and Uttarakhand, this endeavor not only fortifies historical ties but also unlocks new avenues for tourism, commerce, and cultural exchange," the RFP states. As per the report, the Uttarakhand government intends to deploy aircraft with a minimum seating capacity of 70, with Airbus A320s or Boeing 737s being the likely choices, to conduct three round trips every week.Following the opening of bids on April 25, the selected airline will be required to commence operations within 60 days from the issuance of the letter of award, as per the report. .
